Q: Do I have to sell a minimum amount of sterling silver to your company?
A: That depends on whether you sell us your silver in the store, or through the mail.
- If sold in store: No Minimum
- If sold by mail: 10 Ounces

Q: How much do you pay for sterling silver?
A: That depends on Four things:
- 1. Silver Weight:
- Silver can vary greatly in weight, depending on whether it is weighted or solid. Weighted silver or holloware, was designed to make silver more affordable. Commonly weighted items are knife handles, candle holders, and candelabras. When selling, this weight must be removed to accurately determine an item's true silver weight.
- 2. Silver Content:
- Refers to how much of the "element" Silver (Ag), is actually in a particular item. As you know, sterling silver is not pure silver. Instead, it contains 92.5% silver, and 7.5% other metals (usually copper). It is therefore less valuable. From the table below, you can see that there are several grades of silver, each worth different amounts per Troy ounce. As you can see, .800 near the bottom, is worth the least.

3. Spot Price:
As you know, "pure" silver is a commodity, traded each business day in the open market. The spot price of Silver refers to the price that is quoted for immediate (spot) settlement. This price rises and falls constantly each day as a result of buying and selling. Each working day, we make offers to buy silver based on a "percentage" of the current spot price.
4. Collectible Value:
Items that are rare, vintage or collectible are generally worth much more than their silver weight alone. We base our offer for such items on recent and historical sales, if they are available.
Q: Your company claims to pay the most for sterling silver. How can I know for sure?
A: We highly recommend that you call around and get quotes from other companies buying silver. Be sure to ask about minimum orders. Example: Company X advertises that they pay-out $14 an ounce for sterling silver with a 50 troy ounce minimum. You have just 10 troy ounces to sell.
Good questions to ask: Do they sell to the general public, or only to dealers? Do they buy quantities less than 50 ounces? If so, what they will they pay for the amount you are selling? (in this case, 10 ounces). You may be surprised to find that the pay-out rate for below minimum orders drops off significantly.

Q: Who might I call for an estimate?
A: You can try the local pawn shop. However customers have told us that offers from pawn shops are often quite low. There are an ever growing number of web-based companies offering to buy both silver and gold. Unfortunately, we have found that most are really pawn shops in disguise.
